Updates:Week 1: This week we learned all about presto and largo. We read,"The Tortoise and The Hare," and talked about how tortoise was moving largo and hare was presto. We walked fast and slow, we sang fast and slow and we played rhythms fast and slow.
Week 2: Rhythm versus beat. We reviewed songs from earlier this year and practiced walking to or patting the beat. Then we clapped or tapped the rhythms. We practiced listening to different rhythms and matching them to the songs we know. Week 3: This week the focus was on loud and soft, or forte and piano. We sang "Grizzly Bear" our favorite quiet and loud song. We also listened to the forte piano song on youtube and drew pictures of loud and soft things for our music books. Week 4: We learned about high and low sounds this week and learned where so, mi and la are on the treble clef staff. We played music note twister, and practiced putting notes on lines or in spaces on the felt board. Week 5:This week we are learning about how music can tell stories and express emotion. We listened to excerpts from "Pictures at an Exhibition" by Mussorgsky and matched up the music to the picture. We danced like the different animals featured in Camille Saint-Saens' "Carnival of the Animals" and we listened for different character's themes in "Peter and the Wolf" by Prokofiev. |
